Jueves 18 de Noviembre del 2004 : Half-life 2 just crashes.

I purchased the silver package of Half-life 2 via steam.

It finished preloading yesterday night after a day downloading, and as soon as I could I hit the play button only for it to crash.

Restarted Steam to try again but the half life 2 package was at 45%, maybe a file got corrupted or erased and continued downloading until this morning.

While having breakfast, I hit the play button again and Half life 2 began its slow loading and crashed again at it´s menu screen showing a "memory could not be read" dialog. Tried again and failed the same, retried and refailed, and one more time.

After that I visited the steam forums to find out that there where several posts relating to the same problem. Some posible fixes included disabling sound´s directx acceleration or disabling it at all, change launch parameters, reinstal windows and half life 2 and such. But there where many posts about the same problem.

I tried the sound fixes, assured that I had lates drivers for all devices, disabled not needed programs and proceses, and many things.
The game now starts and crashes about 5 minuts I hit new game.
